Jafunk
Jafunk is an Australian-born producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist whose music brings together disco, funk, soul and contemporary electronic dance music. Known for his infectious grooves, colourful arrangements and feel-good energy, he has developed a distinctive sound that connects the warmth of classic funk and disco with modern production. Now based in Portugal, Jafunk has built an international following through his original releases, remixes and collaborations, earning a place among the artists shaping the contemporary nu-disco and funky house scenes.
Jafunk’s musical identity is rooted in a deep appreciation for groove, rhythm and melody. His productions often combine funk-inspired basslines, soulful vocals, bright synthesizers and disco-influenced arrangements, creating music that feels both nostalgic and fresh. As a multi-instrumentalist, he brings a hands-on musical approach to his production, paying close attention to the details that give each track its character. His sound draws comparisons with artists such as Tuxedo, Kaytranada and Parcels, while maintaining a recognisable style of its own.
His breakthrough came with a remix of Set Mo’s “Chasing Forever”, which attracted millions of streams and helped introduce his music to a wider international audience. Since then, Jafunk has released a steady stream of original tracks and collaborations, gaining support from BBC Radio 1 in the UK, Radio FG in France and Triple J in Australia. His music has also appeared on major Spotify editorial playlists, including the Nu-Funk playlist, where his track “Fool For You” held the number-one position for more than five months. Across his original releases, Jafunk has accumulated more than 130 million streams.
Jafunk’s connection with Vokall Records includes his remix of “Love The Mystery” by Sabrina Starke, released through ZIP Records and Vokall Records. His rework brings his signature funk-driven production to Sabrina Starke’s soulful songwriting, giving the track a fresh dancefloor character while retaining its original warmth. The collaboration is a natural meeting of two artists whose musical worlds share a strong connection to soul, groove and expressive melodies. It also highlights the role of Jafunk’s remix work within the wider Vokall community.
Beyond his own releases, Jafunk has collaborated with artists including Snakehips, Young Franco, Cosmo's Midnight, Adi Oasis, Mark Knight and Kraak & Smaak. His creative work also extends into music production tools: his Disco Gems and Future Funk & Soul sample packs for Splice have attracted millions of downloads, making him a recognised name among producers as well as listeners. His second EP, “Classic”, released in 2025, brought together his love of disco, funk and soulful dance music in a focused collection of productions. In the same period, his audience grew significantly, with his Spotify listenership surpassing 1.3 million monthly listeners.
Jafunk’s international performances have taken him across Europe, Asia and Australia, with shows in cities including London, Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, Helsinki, Sydney and Perth. Whether behind the decks or working in the studio, he brings an unmistakable sense of rhythm and musicality to his work. Through his remix for Sabrina Starke and his wider relationship with Vokall Records, Jafunk represents the label’s connection to contemporary funk, soulful house and feel-good electronic music. His ability to turn classic musical influences into fresh, modern productions continues to make him a distinctive voice in the global dance music scene.
